Aloha
Thank you Waikiki for a gorgeous week.
Congratulations to my husband Tim on retiring as a physician/professor at UCSF after 36 years. A little-known fact about Tim is that he also served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, retiring as a colonel after 12 years active duty–at Walter Reed and Letterman hospitals, and on military bases in Korea and Saudi Arabia—and 8 as a reservist. Another little-known fact is that active duty-military and retirees are eligible to vacation at the armed forces’ beautiful oceanfront hotel in Waikiki, the Hale Koa. Which is where we chose to celebrate this new life phase. Aloha!
Good writing thrills me and this article in The NY Times—which I won’t describe but allow you to discover—is one of the best I’ve ever read. The tone, the selected quotes, the story itself.
Brilliant.
